Greg Newbold doesn’t remember life without art. His gift was recognized at
an early age and was fueled by supportive parents who kept him supplied with
all the paints, pencils, paper and clay he could use. Greg earned a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree in 1992 while working as a graphic illustrator in the
software industry. After a fortuitous layoff two years later, and with the
blessing of his supportive wife, Greg took the opportunity to plunge into a
full time art career, and feels fortunate to be able to pursue a career in
the field that he loves.
For well over a decade as a successful freelance artist, his recognizable brand of artwork has been commissioned by such notable clients as Simon & Schuster, Random House, Heinz Foods, Harper Collins, Smuckers, Pilgrim’s Pride, Kleenex, Boy’s Life Magazine and Sony Pictures. He has also illustrated several children’s books, including The Barnyard Night Before Christmas (Random House 2007), The Touch of the Master’s Hand (Stellar Books 2007) and companion books Winter Lullaby and Spring Song (Gulliver Books/Harcourt 1998; 2001). Newbold’s work has been honored with merit awards from such groups as The Society of Illustrators (NY), Communication Arts, The American Institute of Graphic Arts, Graphis, the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators, Spectrum and others. Greg is a three time Best of State-Utah winner in Drawing/Illustration and was awarded the Best of State Statue for the entire Arts & Entertainment category for 2005. His work has been exhibited in New York City; Los Angeles; Columbus, Ohio; and around the Mountain west. He is currently branching into the fine art market with limited edition prints and gallery work. His paintings are included in many private collections. Greg welcomes private commissions. When not painting Greg can be found enjoying vegetable gardening, fishing, or camping in the great outdoors with his family near their Salt Lake City, Utah home. |
